Indignation or a Keen Sense of Humor
Camden Courier-Post —
INDIGNATION OR A KEEN SENSE OF HUMOR on the part of an East Camden resident resulted in this sign suddenly appearing in the center of Waldorf ave., between Marlton pike and Beacon ave. recently. The street is partially paved and partially gravel. The latter is pockmarked with holes, causing a dust condition in dry weather and mud holes after rain.

Miniature River Proves Problem on Waldorf Ave.
Camden Courier-Post —
Director of Public Works Abbott has run into many knotty problems on street conditions caused by the recent rainy weather but he has been able to solve most of them.
However, he has run up against a stumbling block in East Camden where rain water has been running down Fountain avenue and forming huge pools in front of the homes of several residents on Waldorf avenue.
A large part of the water has formed a miniature river in front of the home of Mrs. Walter Laird, 3126 Waldorf avenue. Abbott has promised Mrs. Laird and the other residents he will remedy the condition within the next few days.
“The problem is a perplexing one because Fountain avenue, from which the water runs, is an unimproved street,” Abbott said. “We had little or no trouble until we oil-treated Waldorf avenue at the request of the residents there.
“Before we improved Waldorf avenue, we had no trouble because the water seeped through the surface. We had planned placing an outlet at the intersection of Fountain avenue and Waldorf but we found that if we did, the gravel from Fountain avenue would be constantly filling it and this would endanger our main sewers.
“I have ordered the highway crew to make a study of the problem and take whatever means necessary to correct the condition.”
BURLGLAR LOOTS HOME ON WALDORF AVENUE
A thief obtained $35 in cash and a quantity of jewelry when the home of Harry McCarron, 3126 Waldorf avenue, was robbed early yesterday. McCarron said the robber took a pair of gold cuff links, a wrist watch, a fountain pen and a gold chain with a Knights of Columbus charm on it.
