Camden Streets — Lincoln Avenue

Lincoln Avenue is a two-block street that runs from North 27th Street eastwards to North 29th Street in Cramer Hill.

2722 Lincoln Avenue, my grandparents, Harry & Catherine (Kate) Cholister lived there until the late 1940’s. They got divorced and then Kate lived there alone. Then her daughter Anna Cholister Jackson and Anna’s husband Joe Jackson lived there until about 1952. That’s when she sold it.

My grandfather’s brother George Cholister won the Medal of Honor on the USS Trenton.

Stricken with an attack of acute indigestion yesterday, Clark G. Snellbaker, a WPA worker in the office of City Clerk Reesman, died several hours later at his home, 2723 Lincoln avenue. He was about 53.

Mr. Snellbaker had been employed for a number of months in classifying records in the City Clerk’s office. He was born in Woodstown and had lived in Camden for 30 years. He is survived by his widow, Ethel, five sons, three grandsons, two brothers and a sister.

SNELLBAKER — On February 10, 1938, Clark G. Snellbaker, Sr., husband of Ethel D. Snellbaker. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services on Monday at 2 p.m. at his late residence, 2723 Lincoln Ave., Camden, N.J. Interment Locustwood Memorial Park. Friends may call Sunday evening.
