Gunsmith Shoots Self Inspecting Pistol
A Fairview gunsmith was admitted to West Jersey Hospital Friday with a pistol wound in the right leg.
Edward Drzewucki, 24, was testing a .25 calibre Danish pistol in a shop in the basement of his home, 1439 Collings ave., when the weapon accidentally discharged, according to Detectives Thomas Scarduzio and Martin Nelson.
Scarduzio said Drzewucki was taken to the hospital by Leonard Cinaglia, 22, of 102 S. 4th st., who was in the shop at the time.
Hospital attendants said Drzewucki’s condition is fair.

3 Passengers Shaken in Bus-Truck Crash
Three passengers, two women and a man, were shaken yesterday when a Public Service bus was in a collision with a truck at Monmouth and Sussex streets, Gloucester.
The bus, driven by Thomas Britt, 931 Pearl Street, Camden, struck a truck operated by ralph ratando, of 1114 Collings road, Fairview.
The passengers in the bus were hurled from their seats, but no one was injured. Another bus transported the passengers to Camden. Their names were not learned. Camden Courier-Post, October 29, 1935.
Military Funeral For A. V. Spinelli
Military rites for Gunners Mate Albert V. Spinelli, 22, of 1118 Collings road, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Beverly National cemetery. Gunners Mate Spinelli enlisted in the navy in September, 1942. After serving at the New Orleans naval base three years, he went overseas in August, 1945. He died aboard the minesweeper Minyet Dec. 29, 1945. Prior to entering the service, he was employed at the Campbell Soup Co. and attended Camden County Vocational school. Survivors include his parents, Joseph and Jennie Spinelli, of the Collings road address; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Sorantino and Mrs. Caroline Mariano, and a brother, James, all of Camden. James V. Paradise, 65, died Saturday after a long illness at his home, 1030 Collings rd. Born in New York City and a Camden resident for 64 years, he was a member of the Camden police force until his retirement in 1943. For the past few years, he was employed as a guard by Acme Stores Co. He was a member of the Sixth Ward Republican Club and the New Jersey Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association.
Surviving are his wife, Angelina, and two brothers, Anthony and Paul, of Camden.
Requiem high Mass will be celebrated at 9 a. m. Wednesday at St. Joan of Arc Church. Relatives and friends will meet at 8 o’clock at the Rocco Funeral Home, 4th and Walnut sts., where they may call Tuesday night. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Frank Aceto
Requiem high Mass for Frank Aceto, 59, will be celebrated tomorrow at 9 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church, Collings and Alabama Roads. Friends will meet at 8 a.m. in the Bocco Funeral Home, 4th and Walnut Streets, where they may call tonight. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr. Mr. Aceto, who died Sunday in his home 1402 Collings Road, owned and operated a barbershop at that address for 28 years. He was a member of the Barbers Union, Local 396; Epiphany Council, Knights of Columbus; Bishop B. J. Eustace General Assembly, KofC, fourth degree, and Holy Name Society, St. Joan of Arc Church. Surviving are his wife, Lucy; a daughter, Mrs. Doris Neri of Moorestown; a son, Joseph F. of Cinnaminson; three sisters; a brother, and three grandchildren. Camden Courier-Post, March 23, 1966.

3 Hurt in Collision

Two women and a child were injured this afternoon when two cars collided at Sixth and Pine streets. Mrs. Alta Knorpp, 36, of 616 Erie street, suffered an injured shoulder and ankle. Her daughter, Ada, 2, was bruised. They were in the car driven by Mrs. Knorpp’s husband, Alfred. The other car was driven by Carl P. Deyhle Jr., of 1594 Collings road. Mrs. Rose Deyhl suffered injuries to the right knee. All were treated at Cooper hospital.

Smiths Firemen To 3d Generation

A third generation of the Smith family was sworn into the city’s fire department today.
Following in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps, Spencer Haines Smith 3d, 22, of 1523 Collings rd., became a fireman. Young Smith also has a firefighting uncle in the city.
HIS FATHER, Spencer H. Smith Jr. of 2965 Merrimac rd. was appointed to the department on Oct. 14, 1942, and has served 24½ years on the force. He is commissioner of The Consolidated Police and Fireman Pension System and chairman of the Pension Board.
Spencer H. Smith Sr., who died four years ago, became a fireman on May 1, 1914, and retired in 1950, after 36 years and four months of service.
EARL A SMITH, an uncle, of 240 Eutaw ave., was appointed to the fire squad on Sept. 30, 1950. In addition, to complete the family’s service to the city, William Smith, the great-grandfather, was a policeman.
The new appointee was sworn in along with Ernest F. Fagan, 25, of 105 S. 35th st., and Truman F. Maples, 25, of 1024 N. 35th st. The three will attend Fire School at 9th and Morgan sts.
THE MONTH’S schooling will include a week at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, where the new firemen will fight actual fires with the Yard’s Fire and Disaster Control Center.

The Origin of St. Joseph’s Parish—Continued
month, at 9 o’clock, A.M. Rev. Peter W. Scharoun, O.M.C.” Sunday School was conducted at the home of Mrs. Boyce, and taught by her all the rest of 1892. And thus was begun Saint Joseph’s Parish in East Camden.
On April 20, 1893, “at a special meeting of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Corporation, the following resolution was passed:
“Whereas the spiritual welfare of Catholics living in Pavonia, Wrightsville, [sic] organize a suitable place of worship:
“Resolved that we build a church, with school rooms on the first floor, on lots purchased of Alfred Cramer, having obtained consent of the president of the corporation, the Right Reverend Michael Joseph O’Farrell, Bishop of Trenton:
“Resolved that the church be built according to the plans furnished by Architect John D’arcy of Camden. Rev. Alphonse Lehrscholl, Sec’y.”
The certificate of incorporation was filed and recorded four days later, April 24, 1893. A campaign was launched immediately for the raising of funds to buy the lots and build the church. The committee had planned to have Fridolin Spuhler buy the lots for them and pay him back later, but he happened to be in Europe at the time.
