The Clementon, N.J. War Memorial.
This fine tribute to the fallen heroes of Clementon was originally located in the center of the borough, not far from Clementon Lake Park. The pictures shown here are from the original location. The monument was moved at some point after 2003 to Hero’s Park at Garfield Avenue and Berlin Road.
There is another monument a short distance away in front of the Clementon Fire Company.
It should be noted that in years past the area was also known as Watsontown.

HMTS Rohna
Six men from Camden, N.J. — Frank Ballerino, Michael Carr, Michael Yachus, Stephen V. Koscianski, Lewis Riondino, and Joseph H. Johnson — died together when the troop transport HMTS Rohna was struck by a German guided glider bomb and sank off the coast of North Africa. In addition, six other Camden County men — 19-year-old Harry V. Taylor Jr. of Haddonfield, William McKeon of Blackwood, Merle Reagle of Lindenwold, Joseph K. Jenkins of Pennsauken, Elmer F. Day and Carl Johanson — also were lost that day. In total, 1,015 men were lost, but the story was never told to the families or the general public for over 57 years due to wartime censorship.
