Introduction
Technician Fifth Class William F. Caputo was born in New Jersey to Anna and Charles Caputo. In 1930 the Caputo family lived in Evesham Township, NJ, and Charles Caputo was working as foreman for the telephone company. Besides William, the family included sisters Rose and Angeline, and brothers James, Samuel, and Frank.
William Caputo was drafted into the United States Army. He lost his life in a training accident in early August, 1944, drowning while his unit was on maneuvers near Camp Phillips, KS. He was survived by his mother, Anna Caputo, of 27 East 2nd Street in Moorestown, NJ; his wife, Marie Caputo, of Clementon, NJ; and his brothers and sisters.
