Introduction
Corporal Lenard E. Ruggles was born on August 19, 1918. He originally was from Clementon, NJ, and was a graduate of Haddon Heights (NJ) High School. Prior to being inducted into the United States Army, he had married and moved to Atlantic City, NJ, where he was the assistant manager at a 5 & 10 cent store.
After Lenard Ruggles was inducted into the Army, he was assigned to the 175th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division. He landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day. He was killed in action on September 1, 1944. He was survived by his wife, Esther, of Atlantic City, NJ. He was brought home after the war and buried at Beverly National Cemetery in Beverly, NJ, on July 14, 1948.
