East Camden, Westfield Avenue to North 36th Street

Rosedale Avenue
Rosedale Avenue is in East Camden, running south and east from Westfield Avenue to its end on North 36th Street, parallel to what were for many years railroad tracks that began in the Pavonia rail switching yards and then proceeded through Camden to Merchantville, Maple Shade and other points in Burlington County. From 1938 though the late 1990s, some apartments in the Westfield Acres public housing project carried a Rosedale Avenue address. When Westfield Acres was demolished and rebuilt as Baldwin’s Run, a short section north of Westfield Avenue was designated Rosedale Avenue.
In the 19th and early 20th Centuries, the neighborhood in Camden where Rosedale Avenue runs, as well as that on the other side of the railroad tracks and across Federal Street, was known as Rosedale.

Where Police Seized Still, After Year’s Operation
Camden Courier-Post —
This double dwelling, at 3404 Rosedale avenue, was the scene of a still seizure early yesterday, after it had been operating one year, according to a neighbor. The occupant, Mrs. Mollie Schwartz, 45, was arrested and admitted she operated the plant, according to Acting Lieut. of Police John Potter. A man said to be a brother of the woman, fled in his undershirt, while Sergt. Edward Hahn, recently transferred to Third district duty from the traffic division, and Patrolman Joseph Keefe were making the arrest and seizure. Eleven barrels of mash, a stove, one cooler and three gallons of liquor were seized with the 75-gallon still in the house, police reported. One of two cars without license tags, which were parked in front of the house when raided, disappeared later.
