PETER N. PAULL served as a member of the Camden Police Department from 1951 through 1987, retiring as a Captain. With his wife Kathy he also operated KayDen Productions, a talent, booking and modeling agency from the late 1960s through their retirement in 1990.

42 Seized in 2 House Raids

Illegal Beer Sales Charged:
Forty-two persons were arrested today in two raids on private homes where police said beer was being sold.
All were charged with being disorderly persons under a municipal law.
Dets. Edward Shapiro and John Moffa and Ptl. Peter N. Paull, who made the raids, said they confiscated several cases of beer in homes at 300 S. 5th st. and at 418 Stevens st. between 2 and 4 a. m.
Held as principals and charged with maintaining disorderly houses were George H. Allen, 47, of 300 S. 5th st., and Mrs. Anna M. Bristol, 48, of 418 Stevens st. Both were released in $50 bail for a hearing Monday before Judge Marino.
Charged as disorderly persons and also held in $50 bail each for a hearing Monday were: Walter Rembert, 38, of 3rd st. near Stevens; Octavius J. Curry, 31, of the 1000 block Lawrence st.; Leonard W. Cherry, 28, stationed at Mitchell Air Force Base, Hempstead, N. Y.; George H. Allen Jr., 26, of 300 S. 5th st.

Boxing Show Slated to Aid Drop-A-Buck

More than 500 members of boys clubs and Little League teams in the area will be guests at a special amateur boxing show Tuesday night at Convention Hall from which proceeds will benefit the Frank H. Ryan Drop-A-Buck Club.
Sponsors for the young guests are being solicited now by a committee headed by Police Insp. Anthony Skolski.
The show will be staged by the Camden Police Athletic League and sponsored by Camden Local 35, New Jersey Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association.
Ten three-round bouts will present boxers from the Philadelphia Police Athletic League and some Middle Atlantic AAU champions will be on the card.

3 Businesses, Homes Looted On Weekend

Burglars broke into three Camden business establishments and three Pennsauken homes over this weekend and netted nearly $600 in loot, police said.
Liquor valued at $120 by Richard D. Grayson, 603 Chestnut st., was taken early Sunday from his 705 Bar, 705 Chestnut st., Ptl. Peter N. Paul and Edward Troutman said. An undetermined amount of money was taken from a juke box which was broken open. Police said entry was gained through a rear window.
An estimated $103 was taken from candy, cigaret, pinball and soda pop machines broken open at Paramount Billiards, 16 S. Broadway, according to Ptl. Nathan Kline. George Watson, 410 Carteret st., who opened the billiard parlor Sunday morning, called police.
Two Men Held
Two men are being held on charges of breaking and entering Martini’s Service Station, 4th and Main sts., Saturday night. Ptl. William Haines said 14 cents was missing.
Joseph Knox, 26, of the 1800 block Mulford st., and John Kenney, 24, of the 600 block N. 4th st., were arrested after a passerby told police she recognized them as the men she saw running from the service station.
Hugo J. Martini, owner of the service station, said the place was looted and 80 pennies taken. Sixty-six of the pennies were found on the floor and pavement.
Cops Nab Two In Gas Station, Wilson Blvd.

Two Philadelphia men were charged with breaking and entering and larceny after police allegedly caught them Sunday in the act of burglarizing a service station on Admiral Wilson blvd.
Ptl. Thomas C. Kelly Jr. and Edward Yeager identified the suspects as William DeSalvatore, 20, a laborer, and Daniel Gillin, 21, a cook at the Army’s Aberdeen, Md., Proving Ground. Each gave a different address on N. 66th st. near Girard ave.
Municipal Judge Marino today ordered the pair held without bail pending grand jury action.
Kelly and Yeager said they arrested the two in Lou’s service station, Admiral Wilson blvd. and Banks st. about 4 a. m. A rear window was broken and overhead garage doors open. Police said a chest of tools had been carried out of the garage and an outboard motor removed from a boat.
Other tools and $11 in change taken from a service station at Dwight ave. and Crescent blvd., Collingswood, was recovered from the suspects, Kelly and Yeager said.
Police also reported that Smitty’s Delicatessen, 432 Broadway, was broken into Sunday and $430 reported stolen from the store and owner’s quarters.
Ptl. Peter Paul said entrance was gained through a rear third-floor window, accessible from a lower roof, between 3 and 9.30 p. m. He said $400 was taken from a metal box in the bedroom of the owner, Joseph Smith, and $30 from a cash register.

9 Camden Police Earn Promotions

Lt. Howard Clayton, 55, 30 year veteran on Camden’s police was named acting captain of the service division yesterday, while five city patrolmen were sworn in as detectives by John T. Odorisio, city clerk.
A sixth patrolman, Isaiah Pitts, 37, of 2920 Berkley Street, unable to attend promotion ceremonies because of illness, will be sworn in on return to duty. He’s a 10-year veteran.
As acting captain of the service division, Clayton will head the identification, traffic and communications bureaus.
Patrolmen promoted yesterday were Augustus Balzano, 31, 3165 Merriel Avenue, and David Del Rossi, 27, 1466 Mount Ephraim Avenue, both three year veterans; John Phoenix, 35, 1333 Princess Avenue, Robert Mentz, 30, 2608 Baird Avenue, and Gilbert Upshaw, 36, 1525 Wildwood Avenue, all six-year members of the force.
The six men will earn $6625 a year as detectives; a $200 increase in present salary. All have been acting as detectives.
Deputy Police Chief William Yeager also announced the appointment of sgt. Peter Paull, 42, a 16-year man on the force, as acting lieutenant. Paull will be in charge of the communications section.
Frank Senatore, also 42, and an 18-year veteran, will be transferred from the patrol division to the detective division Monday morning, Yeager said.
Present during the swearing in were Police Chief Harold Melleby, Yeager, and Captain John Watkins, head of the detective division.

Policemen, Firemen Are Promoted

Camden Director of Public Safety Harold Melleby yesterday announced the promotions of three city policemen and three firemen.
Promoted to police sergeants were Earl Flanagan, 40, Joseph J. McComb, 39, and Joseph Wylings Jr., 45. Wylings is a 20-year veteran of the police force and Flanagan and McComb each have been with the department 12 years.
Fire Department promotions were Charles A. Bates to battalion chief and Michael C. LaFrance, 26, and George Kurtyan, 25, to captain.
For 8 Years
Bates has been serving as a captain for the past eight years. LaFrance and Kurtyan both have been firemen for four years.
The following police transfers were announced:
Capt. Joseph McGann from commander of the Uniformed Patrol Division to commander of the Records and Identification Bureau.

PAULL, KATHLEEN T.
(Kathy Dennis), age 81. Of Cherry Hill. Died Saturday, July 22, 2006 at her home with her Family by her side.
Kathy enjoyed a life long career in the entertainment industry. A singer, dancer and actress, she appeared on stage and screen, both here and abroad. In 1970, she founded Kay-Den Productions, an entertainment booking and modeling agency. She was instrumental in helping many aspiring artists launch successful careers in show business. She was a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and The American Guild of Variety Artists (AGVA).
Mother of the late Raymond Mullen. Kathleen is survived by her loving husband Peter and her daughter Rose Mullen both of Cherry Hill. Also surviving are her two sisters, Mary McCormack of Lansdowne, Pa., and Suzanne Sherlock of Alden, Pa. Her three grandchildren Michael, Jaime, and Josh. And a beloved nephew Wayne Paull.
Family and friends are invited to attend Kathleen’s Life Celebration Thursday afternoon 4 to 5 p.m. at INGLESBY/GIVNISH OF MAPLE SHADE, 600 East Main Street. Followed by her Services at 5 p.m. Interment will be private.

Retired Police Captain on November 12, 2006 of Cherry Hill, NJ age 82 years.
Beloved husband of the late Kathleen T. (Callahan) Paull. Loving father of Rose L. Mullen and the late Raymond Mullen. Grandfather of Michael, Jaime and Josh. Uncle of Wayne Paull.
Peter was a U.S Army veteran of WWII and received a Bronze Star and the N.J. Distinguished Service Medal. He was a retired as Captain for the City of Camden Police Dept. serving from 1951 thru 1987. He was a member Richmond Lodge # 230 F. & A.M. of Phila. PA. Peter and Kathy owned and operated a successful licensed entertainment-booking agency from 1968–1990 and were instrumental in launching many careers in the entertainment industry. Peter’s greatest passion was his beautiful wife Kathleen.
Relatives and Friends are invited to Peter’s Life Celebration Service at INGLESBY/GIVNISH of MAPLE SHADE 600 E. Main St on Friday from 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. followed by his Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m. Entombment at Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ.
