Jim Bessing, who grew up on Howard Street and at South 7th and Division in the 1930s and 40s, and is a very good friend of the website, passed along a stack of newspapers in December of 2004. Among the many articles and advertisements that were interesting, I thought it would be fun and informative to see what your real estate dollar would buy you 39 years ago!

For clarity, I “un-did” abbreviations, and removed the telephone numbers of the real estate agencies involved, most of which are long gone.

For those not old enough to know, the term “rec room” applies to what in modern times is called the “family room.”
