Sweetheart and Money Missing
Philadelphia Inquirer —
Harry Hansom reported to the Camden police yesterday, that his boarding mistress, a Mrs. Carll, of 2728 Polk avenue, North Cramer Hill, to whom he was engaged to be married next month, had disappeared, together with a check for $54.63, that he gave her to get cashed. He said that when he came home from work on Wednesday, he found her gone and all the furniture moved out of the house.
Note: This story appears mangled. Harry Hansom did board in the neighborhood in the 1890s, but there never was a house at 2728 Polk Avenue. Andrew Carroll did live at 2738 in 1898. He moved in 1899, and passed away in 1903, still married to his wife Kate.
