Vincent Raczykowski

Founder, Newport Bottling Works

Introduction

VINCENT RACZYKOWSKI was born on November 27, 1885. Of Polish extraction, he came to the United States, settling in Camden around 1909. He was one of a number of businessmen who were in the bottling business in Camden.

Of these operations, Vincent Raczykowski’s was probably the most successful. The business, founded in 1917 at 1101 Morton Street absorbed the Thirteenth Ward Bottling Works in the 1930s, then made the transition to beer distribution and remaining in operation as the Newport Bottling Works into the 1970s.

Vincent Raczykowski passed away in January of 1964, survived by his wife and sons Stephen and Bruno. Stephen Raczykowski owned and operated Steve’s Tavern on Ferry Avenue at Fillmore Street for many years.
