Introduction
Frederick L. Mead was born in Camden on September 3, 1862, and became one of the foremost accountants and auditors of Southern New Jersey. After education in Camden public schools and Pierce Business College in Philadelphia, he worked for several years with accounting firms before passing his CPA examination on November 2, 1905. He was also licensed as a Municipal Accountant of New Jersey.
In 1919, his son Frederick Jr. joined the firm. Mead was active in civic affairs in Camden and Merchantville, serving in leadership roles for Liberty and Victory Loan campaigns, Salvation Army, and Red Cross drives during World War I. He was a member of numerous professional organizations and Grace Episcopal Church of Merchantville.

Frederick L. Mead, one of the foremost accountants and auditors of Southern New Jersey and a Municipal Accountant of the State of New Jersey, has also been active in civic affairs in Camden and Merchantville and has a distinguished record in connection with the World War. He was born in Camden, September 3, 1862, the son of Ephraim Mead, a hat manufacturer and a veteran of the Civil War.
Frederick L. Mead was educated in the Camden public schools and Pierce Business College, Philadelphia. He was assistant to a Philadelphia accounting firm and for nine years was junior and senior accountant. On November 2, 1905, he passed the examination for Certified Public Accountant and was licensed as a Municipal Accountant of the State of New Jersey. In 1919 his son, Frederick L. Mead, Jr., became associated with him in business.
Mr. Mead is a member of Camden Lodge of Elks, the Camden Chamber of Commerce, the Society of Certified Public Accountants of the State of New Jersey, the American Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Merchantville Country Club and Grace Episcopal Church of Merchantville. During the World War he was captain of teams for the Liberty and Victory Loan campaigns and for the Salvation Army and Red Cross drives.
Mr. Mead married Mary Moffit in 1890. They have two children: Lucinda M., born February 8, 1891, married Albert E. Burling; and Frederick L., Jr., born January 9, 1893, who is an accountant with his father, is a member of the Elks and a veteran of the World War, belonging to the American Legion.
