Introduction
CHARLES W. DUTTON was born in Camden NJ around 1887. He worked as a guard in the city parks. He moved to 2808 Hayes Avenue in Cramer Hill with his wife Edna around 1939, and in 1945 became a crossing guard at North 32nd Street and River Road as the children would make their way to the Harry C. Sharp Public School at 928 North 32nd Street. This corner would become famous in 1949 when Howard Unruh went on his rampage, killing 13 people in 12 minutes. Charles Dutton was a member of the 11th Ward Republican Club and of Camp 117 of the Patriotic Order Son of America.
Charles W. Dutton suffered a fatal stroke while at home on June 19, 1950. His mother-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Stone, who lived with the Duttons, passed at the age of 90 the next day. After joint services, Mr. Dutton was buried at New Camden Cemetery on June 23, 1950. Charles Dutton was survived by his wife, daughter Mrs. Katherine Simpson, and four grandchildren.

CHARLES W. DUTTON
Charles W. Dutton, 62, of 2808 Hayes avenue, died Monday in his home. Born in Camden, he had resided in the Cramer Hill section for 11 years. He was a special officer guarding the pupils of the Sharp public school, Thirty-second street and River avenue, as they crossed the street, for four years. He also was a guard in the city parks. He was a member of the Eleventh Ward Republican club and Camp 117, P. O. S. of A.
Surviving are his widow, Edna; a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Simpson, Camden, and four grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 2 p. m. in the funeral home at 804-06 North Twenty-seventh street. The Rev. John N. Garrabrandt Jr., pastor of Grace Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in New Camden cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday night.
Double Rites Set For C. W. Dutton, Mrs. Sarah Stone

A double funeral for a Cramer Hill woman and her son-in-law will be held Friday at 2 p. m. in the funeral home at 804-06 North Twenty-seventh street, where friends may call Thursday night.
Mrs. Sarah A. Stone, 90, died Tuesday in the residence of a daughter, Mrs. Edna Dutton, 2808 Hayes avenue, after an illness of 15 months. Her son-in-law, Charles W. Dutton, 62, died in the Hayes avenue home Monday following a stroke. Mrs. Stone did not know of the death of her son-in-law.
The services will be conducted by the Rev. John N. Garrabrandt Jr., pastor of the Grace Baptist Church, Camden, of which Mrs. Stone was the oldest member. Burial of Mrs. Stone will be in Harleigh cemetery while Mr. Dutton will be buried in New Camden cemetery.
Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Stone was a resident of the Cramer Hill section 50 years. In addition to Mrs. Dutton, Stone is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Estell Coryell, of Mayfair, Philadelphia; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
