Veterans Boxing Association Ring No. 6: 13th Annual Banquet

Veterans Boxing Association Ring No. 6 apparently was organized in the late 1940s by a number of former boxers, a good number of whom had gone into the business world in Camden and its surrounding suburbs after their ring careers had ended. The purpose of the association, besides its function as a social club, was probably identical to that of Philadelphia's Veterans Boxing Association Ring No. 1, whose website reads as follows:

The purpose for which the corporation is to be organized are to be fostered and promote the good and general welfare of the Veteran Boxer. To take care of the sick and disabled Veteran Boxer who may be in distress by means of contribution with in the means and to the best of the associations ability. To take an active interest in the administration of all the laws that affect the sport of boxing in the state of Pennsylvania to insure that its members are given the recognition deserving their past effort and protect the active boxers to the best of the associations ability.

Ring No. 6 held its first annual banquet in 1948. These became quite impressive affairs over time, with many prominent guest and speakers.

Besides activities related to boxing, Ring No. 6 supported local charity drives and youth organizations, including the Morgan Village Little League in Camden.
