Introduction
Royal Avenue, also known as Royal Street, is in East Camden. It runs in a southeasterly direction from Royden Street, across Waldorf Avenue, and on to Highland Avenue, where it continues on into Pennsauken Township. All homes on Royal Avenue were built after the 1947 Camden City Directory was compiled.

Victim, Attorney for Mugging Suspect, Separated by Cop

A lawyer and the complaining witness in a mugging case almost came to blows today in a hearing before Judge Dzick.
Anthony Marino, defense attorney, and Charles Walker, 22, of 505 Royal ave., had to be separated by Patrolman William Rogers, on duty in the courtroom.
Marino was representing Raymond Savidge, 29, of 2235 Carman st., charged with assault and battery and robbery of Walker early Saturday at 24th st. and Marlton pike.
Objects to Remarks
Marino had objected to remarks made by Walker’s sister, Edith, and Judge Dzick had cautioned her several times.
Suddenly, Marino asked Miss Walker why she called his client a hoodlum. Miss Walker’s answer was inaudible to most everyone in court but Marino said:
“Oh, shut up, you’re making me sick.”
Walker pushed past his sister, clenched his fist and grabbed Marino. The lawyer pulled back and raised his right arm. Before any more could happen, Patrolman Rogers leaped between them and order was restored.
Identifies Defendant
Walker, testifying through a swollen jaw, identified Savidge as one of two men who followed him from a restaurant at 21st. and Federal sts. Walker said they pulled him into a lot, beat him unconscious and took $15 and an RCA Victor plant badge from his pockets.
The complainant said he had previously bought the pair coffee and sandwiches in the restaurant.
Walker said he had been drinking earlier. When asked by defense counsel what condition Walker was in when interviewed at Cooper Hospital, Detective George Ellis said Walker was “drunk.”
Savidge entered a not guilty plea but did not testify. Judge Dzick released him in $1000 bail to await grand jury action.
The second man is still being sought.
Mrs. Nellie Fodo

Services for Mrs. Nellie McDade Fodo of 529 Royal ave. will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Slovak Evangelical Lutheran Church, Thurman and Norris sts. Friends will meet at 10:30 a.m. in the Predpelski Funeral Home, 1458 Mount Ephraim ave., where they may call tomorrow night. Burial will be in New Camden Cemetery.
Mrs. Fodo died Sunday in West Jersey Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, John; a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Revallo, and a son, William J. McDade of Camden; a sister, Mrs. Mary Cowles of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, Frank Keeley of Arizona; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
