Felton Street

Camden Street

Introduction

Felton Street was a very short street that ran south from Clarion Street to Clinton Street, between South 6th Street and Roberts Street. Clarion Street, or as it is referred to more commonly, Clarion Alley, runs east from South 5th Street to South 6th Street, between Berkley and Clinton Street. It appears to have been developed by Camden insurance and real estate broker Charles H. Felton, who was very active in Camden in the 1870s and 1880s. He died at the age of 32 in November of 1887.

Water pipe was laid out for Felton Street in 1883. Felton Street first appears in Howe’s Camden City and County Directory 1884–1885, with a Lewis White living at 518 Felton Street. There were eight homes on Felton Street, four on a side, and at seven were occupied as late as 1947. There were no addresses with telephone listings on Felton Street in 1969, and the street is not mentioned in the 1980 Directory. No buildings are standing as of the fall of 2011.

Senatore — In Memoriam

Camden Courier-Post –

Senatore — In Memoriam, February 18, 1938

SENATORE—In sad and loving remembrance of our darling baby, Dolores Senatore, who passed away February 18, 1936.

A bud that the gardener gave us, a pure and lovely child,
He gave her into our keeping, to cherish undefiled.
But just as it was opening, to the glory of the day,
Down came the Heavenly Gardener, and took our flower away.

Sadly missed by Mother and Dad.
