Introduction
William Schoenagle was born in Germany around 1880. He came to America in 1890. He owned and operated a factory in Camden NJ that manufactured store curtains and valances through at least 1930. By that time he had moved to 5817 Pine Street in Philadelphia PA to live with his sister-in-law and her family. William Schoenagle became the president of the Allen Products Company, a manufacturer of automobile polishes and cleaners around 1940.
William Schoenagle was the younger brother of Sigmund “Sig” Schoenagle, who for many years operated a haberdashery at 518 Federal Street in Camden, and who was active in the civic affairs of Camden. In the early 20s William Schoenagle and his brother were active participants in the Community Hotel fund raising drive that culminated in the erection of the Walt Whitman Hotel. He placed the advertisement below in the Camden Courier-Post special edition commemorating the opening of the Delaware River Bridge.
William Schoenagle passed away on January 13, 1950 in Philadelphia.

Services for William Schoenagle, 69, former Camden businessman, were held today at the funeral chapel at 2209 North Broad street, Philadelphia. Burial was in Adath Jeshurun Cemetery. He died Monday in his home, 5817 Pine street, Philadelphia.
Mr. Schoenagle, who was active in civic affairs in Camden and manufactured and sold store curtains and valances in Camden, was the brother of the late Sig Schoenagle, Camden haberdasher who also was active in civic affairs in the city. Mr. Sig Schoenagle when he died conducted his store at 518 Federal street, now operated by Kline and Gallimore. Mr. William Schoenagle for the last 10 years was president of the Allan Products Co., makers of automobile polishes and cleaners in Philadelphia. Nieces and nephews survive.
