Rocco Burgo

Rocco Burgo was born on July 15, 1913, in Camden, New Jersey. He was one of at least nine children of Louis and Nettie Burgo. In 1920, the family lived at 276 Walnut Street in South Camden. By 1930, they had moved to 323 Chestnut Street.

Rocco belonged to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church on South 4th Street.

In the late 1930s, Rocco was active in the Young Men’s Catholic Club of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. In June 1939, he served as chairman of the dance committee and organized an affair at the Hotel Walt Whitman at Broadway and Cooper Street. The event featured music by Larry Fotin and his Orchestra. Fotine led his band through the 1950s, made records, and is best remembered as a composer.

Rocco Burgo was last a resident of Westville, New Jersey. He died on January 24, 1993.
