England Place

England Place, Camden, NJ

Introduction

England Place, also known as England’s Place, is a short street that ran for half a block from 408 North Front Street until it came to a dead end. Homes are first listed on England Place in the 1878 City Directory. The 1885 Sanborn Map shows five homes on England Place, 111, 112, 113, 114, and 115. By 1891, 110 England Place had been built. At some point after 1906 a building was erected at 109 England Place that was used over the years as a machine shop and as an auto repair garage. There were still occupied homes on England Place as late as 1969. By 1980 they were gone. Today England Place is no more; the land it once occupied is now a city park.
