Sergeant William Henry Crox was born, with his twin Alfred Denny Crox, to Elmer and Flora Sparks Crox, of 3181 Alabama Road, in the Fairview section of Camden NJ, on September 15, 1920.

After being inducted into the United States Army he was assigned to the 77th Infantry Division. The Camden Courier-Post reported on October 2, 1943 that he was then stationed in Southern California. Brother Alfred was in El Paso TX, brother Harry was in North Africa, and step-brother was at Camp Hood TX.

William Crox shipped out with his unit in March of 1944. He trained with the 77th Infantry Division in Hawaii prior to the 77th’s being committed to the invasion of Guam. He was seriously wounded fighting the Japanese on Leyte, Philippine Islands, in December of 1944. On June 6, 1945, William Henry Crox died as a result of these wounds.

On October 19, 1948 he was buried at Beverly National Cemetery in Beverly NJ next to his twin brother Alfred, who had been killed in action on June 8, 1944. The brothers were survived by their father, two sisters, Ellen Virginia and Edith, younger brother Harry Walter Crox, and a step-brother, Raymond Kowski.
