Introduction
Technical Sergeant Robert T. Lynn was born in 1909 in New Jersey to Ross and Mary Lynn. His father was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and worked as a brakeman on the railroad. By 1920 the family was living at 1156 Marion Street in Camden, New Jersey, and they remained at that address through the war years. At the time of the 1930 census, Robert Lynn, then 20 years old, was working as a furniture truck driver. Drafted in March of 1941, he was assigned to the 28th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division. He went overseas in March of 1944.
Robert Lynn was killed in action near Bohars, north of Brest, France on September 5, 1944 during the battle to liberate that port city. He was survived by his father and sister Mrs. Agnes Pike, brother-in-law Harold Pike, and nephew Harold H. Pike. His death was reported in the Camden Courier-Post on October 4, 1944.
