Richard O'Neill

Camden real estate dealer, 1886–1958

Richard O'Neill

Richard O’Neill was born in Camden NJ on July 14, 1886, one of at least four children born to William and Mary O’Neill. His father was an iron moulder. The family lived at 728 Market Street when the census was taken in 1900.

Richard O’Neill married around 1909 and went into the real estate business around 1911. When he registered for the draft in June of 1917, he was married with two children, and living at 457 South 6th Street. The family, which included wife Anne, daughter Evelyn and son Richard Jr., were still living at 457 South 6th Street when the census was taken in 1930.

Still a resident of 457 South 6th Street, Richard O’Neill died from a sudden heart attack on July 1, 1958. Richard O’Neill’s family were still living at the South 6th Street address as late as 1956, and were still listed under his name in the New Jersey Bell Telephone Directory. They were not listed, however, in the October 1959 Directory.
