May A. Jones
MAY A. JONES was born on June 24, 1899. She married James H. Jones at the age of 21. The 1930 Census shows James and May A. Jones with a six-year old son James H. Jr., residing at the home of Sallie Jones, 2909 Berkley Street in East Camden.
The 1947 Camden City Directory shows James H. Jones Sr. working as an inspector with the City Clerk’s office in Camden. May A. Jones served as a member of the Camden Board of Education in the middle 1950s. The Jones family resided at 2909 Berkley Street into the 1960s. Their son had by then moved to Delaware Township, present day Cherry Hill. By 1970 May A. and James H. Jones Sr. had also moved to Cherry Hill.
May A. Jones last lived in Cherry Hill NJ. She passed away August 24, 1987, survived by her son, James H. Jones, a career postal worker and WWII Naval veteran.
G.O.P. Women Install 12th Ward Club Staff

Mrs. May Jones, of 2909 Berkley street, recently elected president of the Twelfth Ward Republican Women’s Club, and other new officers were installed at the club’s head quarters, 2709 Westfield avenue.
They are: Mrs. Rene Baker, vice president; Mrs. Rebecca Stover, recording secretary; Mrs. Ida Harris, financial secretary; and Mrs. Charlotte Freye, treasurer.
Miss Dorothy B. McIlvain, county committeewoman, declined re-election as president, it was announced.
It was announced that a public card party, sponsored by the members, will be held at the club Monday evening, February 7.

Liquor License Transfer Denied

The Camden Excise Board on Friday denied an application for transfer of a liquor license from one location to another in the 500 block of Kaighns ave.
According to Mrs. May Jones, secretary of the board, the decision was made following a hearing on Nov. 19 on the transfer of the license of Morris Aronow and Milton Rosenberg, trading as the A & R Bar, at 532 Kaighns ave., to Max and Renee Marcus, 2405 Federal st. The Marcus couple applied to transfer the license from 532 to 523 Kaighns ave.
Prosecutor Cohen, representing a group of residents of the area, headed by Jacob Levikoff, who operates a liquor store at Broadway and Kaighns ave., opposed the transfer at the hearing.
