Introduction
Levering Minister was born on October 13, 1892 at 129 Main Street in Camden, New Jersey to Robert Minister and his wife, the former Ida M. Norris. He was delivered by Doctor H.F. Palm, who lived at North 2nd Street, just across the railroad tracks that ran up the center of Main Street.
Levering Minister served in the United States Navy as a cola passer at some point in the late 1900s or early 1910s.
When he registered for the draft on June 5, 1917, Levering Minister was married with two children, and living at 926 Elm Street in North Camden. He was working in Philadelphia as a pipe fitter.
Levering Minister was appointed to the Camden Fire Department on January 1, 1918. He resigned on July 15, 1918. The Department experienced a great amount of turnover in 1917 and 1918 due to men leaving to take better paying jobs in defense-related industries, primarily at the shipyards.
The 1918–1919 City Directory show him living with his wife Bessie at 513 Borton Street in North Camden.
The Ministers later moved to Atco, New Jersey. When he registered for the draft in the sring of 1942, Levering Minister was working in Camden at the R.M. Hollingshead Company at South 16th Street and Mickle Street.
Levering Minister passed away in Florida away on February 23, 1970.

Recently wedded, Lawyer Joseph Carr, of the firm of Ott & Carr, was yesterday inducted into the service at his own request. He goes to Camp Meade today and will be attached to the judge advocate’s department.
For injuries sustained to his right knee in a fall at the Camden Terminal on April 23, Francis Gallagher, of Westmont, yesterday brought suit for $5,000 damages against the Philadelphia & Camden Ferry Co.
Four-year-old Frank Harris, of 329 Liberty street, so badly mangled two fingers with a hatchet that doctors at Cooper Hospital amputated the crushed digits.
To take a more lucrative position in a shipyard, Levering Minister yesterday resigned as a member of Engine Co. No. 4.
Recently resigning from the fire department, William Michalak was yesterday appointed to the police force as a member of the mounted squad.
