James B. West Jr.
James B. West Jr. was a well-known plumbing contractor in Camden in the 1910s, and remained active as a plumber into the late 1950s.
James B. West was born in Missouri in 1885. On April 27, 1911 he married Margaret Oberst, daughter of prominent real estate operator Anthony J. Oberst. The couple first made their home at 448 Pine Street. At the time of the 1920 Census they lived at 446 Pine Street in Camden, next door to his business, which was at 444 Pine. The West family at that point included wife Margaret, son James J. West, aged 8, and daughter Carolina, aged 4. By the fall of 1936 the Wests were at 700 Spruce, according to the New Jersey Bell Telephone Directory of that year.
James B. West Jr. was living at 707 Spruce Street as late as 1947. The 1956 Telephone Directory shows him at 826 Kimber Street in North Camden, and he was there as late as 1959. He died at home on October 3, 1961, survived by a daughter, Caroline Ann West, and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle M. McClyment. He had been a member of Camden Lodge No. 293, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks.

Pretty Ceremony at Catholic Church
Miss Margaret M. Oberst, the pretty and talented daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony J. Oberst, of 803 South Fifth street, was married yesterday morning at 11 o'clock in Ss. Peter and Paul's Church, St. John and Spruce streets, to Mr. James B. West, Jr., a prominent plumber and stepson of John McGowan, of 501 Trenton avenue. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Father B. Zoller.
Miss Anna Oberst, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, and James Crerand best man. The bride was attired in a white embroidered dress, wore a veil with lilies of the valley and carried a shower bouquet of bridal roses. The bridesmaid was gowned in pink satin, wore a pink picture hat and carried a bouquet of pink roses. A reception and banquet was given at the home of the bride's parents last evening.
Mr. and Mrs. West left last evening for a wedding trip and part of the time will be spent in Atlantic City. On their return they will reside in their own home, 446 Pine street. There was a reception last night with a banquet served by Hemmer.

James B. West, 76, of 826 Kimber st., died Tuesday at home. He was a retired self-employed plumber and member of the local Elks Lodge 293.
Surviving are a daughter, Caroline Anna West, at home, and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle McClyment of Camden.
Friends may call Thursday at the Harry Leonard Funeral Home, 2850 Federal st. A Mass will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Broadway and Market st. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Delaware Township.
