Introduction
Gloria Jean Gibson was born on July 5, 1940. Gloria didn’t stand more than 5’ in heels, and that got her the nickname. She tended bar Tuesday through Saturday afternoons at Luby Vann’s Jam Lounge at 1240 Kaighn Avenue for at least 15 years, maybe even longer. Everyone on the scene in Camden knew Little Bits.
I first met Little Bits in January of 1990, and we were pretty friendly over the years. Gloria liked her Inver House scotch, and as she didn’t drive, many a time I gave her a ride home to her home on Central Avenue in the Roosevelt Manor public housing project in Centerville.
Gloria Jean Gibson passed away on February 13, 2003. She will definitely be missed, and never replaced.
