Private Eugene Davidson was born January 6, 1891 in Lincolnton, NC. His early years were spent there. When the census was taken in 1900 he was living with his aunt Susan Berriner*. They had moved to Philadelphia by the summer of 1910. Eugene Davidson was working as a laborer. Sometime during the 1910s he moved to Camden. He was working as a teamster for the William J. Cooper Company at 215–221 Kaighn Avenue on June 5, 1917—the day he registered for the draft. He was then living at 742 Sycamore Street, and later moved to 1003 Mount Ephraim Avenue. He had moved to 613 Liberty Street when called to service in June of 1918.

Private Davidson, who was generally known as “Gean” Davidson, died in a local hospital in October of 1918 from Spanish influenza, contracted while on a leave of absence from Camp Dix. Unmarried at the time of his death, he was survived by his aunt, Mrs. Susan Miller, of Philadelphia.

* The “Berriner” spelling is approximate. The name appears three times in records, in two cases handwritten and hard to decipher. She did remarry by January of 1920.
