E. Allen Hughes

Introduction

E. Allen Hughes had a 36 year long career as a reporter and copy editor with the Camden Courier-Post newspapers, beginning in 1928. He also worked for a time as a radio news broadcaster over WCAM in the late 1930s. He retired in 1965.

In fall of 1932 E. Allen Hughes wrote a three part series of articles about the small streets of Camden, and a two part series about Liney Ditch.

E. Allen Hughes was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Alpha Club; Trimble Lodge No. 117, Free and Accepted Masons; and Excelsior Consistory. He was a past commander of the Raymond C. Thoirs Post 47 of the American Legion.

E. Allen Hughes died of a heart attack on October 10, 1967.
