Introduction
David Redd is a member of a family that has lived in the Centerville Section of Camden for over 100 years. He served for many years as the Democratic Committeeman from the Eighth Ward. In the 1960s he worked for the city as coordinator of recreation. He sat on the Board of Commissioners for the Housing Authority of the City of Camden in the 1980s and 1990s.
David Redd spent a lot of time in the restoration and care of the Butler Cemetery at Ferry Avenue and Charles Street, the final resting place of many African American Civil War veterans.

The weekly races of the Camden County Park Commission are developing into family affairs. With the season’s championship to be decided at the Audubon pool on Monday, August 4, the following families have shown to advantage during the past three weeks: the Nestbaumers in Haddonfield; the Kehoes in Camden; the Blythes and Kegels in Audubon; the Hagans in Gloucester and the Hollands and Redds in South Camden. Swimmers competing in weekly events are eligible for the title meet. Results of events this week follow:
