ROBERT W. WHITNEY was born in Camden, New Jersey on October 14, 1920 to Robert and Carrie Whitney. When the 1947 Camden City Directory was compiled he was working for the Post Office as a letter carrier and living at 1734 Van Buren Street. On January 1, 1951 Robert W. Whitney was appointed to the Camden Fire Department, and after training was assigned to Engine Company 8. By 1952 he had moved to 731 Powell Court. He later moved to 1145 Langham Avenue. Robert W. Whitney Jr. retired from the Camden Fire Department on may 1, 1974. Last a resident of Camden, he passed away on May 16, 1984. |
