LARRY KEIGHLEY (1906-1993) was a photographer based in Philadelphia. He did a lot of work for for the Saturday Evening Post, and perhaps is best remembered for climbing to the top of a gun turret on the U.S.S. Missouri and taking an unscheduled color photo of the Japanese surrender at the end of World War II. Larry Keighley is notable in Camden for his award winning color photograph of the Hollingshead Fire of July, 1940. Besides the images shown below, another series of Mr. Keighley's photographs can be seen here, in the September 1948 edition of Popular Photography Magazine. |
