GRANT
R. KELLER was born on August 6, 1934. He was appointed to
the Camden
Fire
Department on April 14, 1959, and underwent his training
shortly
thereafter.
In 1963
Grant Keller was promoted to Captain. At that time he was
the
youngest
ever made Captain in terms of both age, and length of time
in
service
with the Camden Fire Department.
Daughter
Bonnie Keller wrote in January of 2010:
"My
father worked all over the city through the years. He was on
Kaighn
Avenue for
Engine
8 at
6th
and
Kaighn
about 5 years all
together, he was there two different times, then to
Ladder
1 in
the old fire
headquarters,
Ladder 2
on
Kaighn
Avenue, and then
to 11s
(Engine
Company
11) on
27th
Street at Hayes Avenue."
Captain
Keller and his family made their home in Cramer Hill, at 715
North
25th Street, a short walk from the
Engine
Company 11
firehouse.
