DANIEL
M. GALLUCCI was born in Camden, New Jersey on July 11, 1939
to Dominick J. Gallucci and his mother, the former Marietta A.
Paradise. The 1940 Census shows the family living at 1315
Park
Boulevard, along with his maternal aunt Rose and her husband
James Fullerton. A brother, Michael Gallucci, was born after the
1940 Census was enumerated. By October of 1956 Dominick and
Marietta Gallucci acquired the bar at 1855
South 4th
Street, at the southeast corner of
South 4th
and Emerald
Street in Camden's Eighth Ward from the Pipito family.
They renamed the business The Gay Spot Restaurant and Bar, and
lived on the second floor of the building. Dominick and Marietta
Gallucci resided and did business at The Gay Spot into the
1970s. |
Daniel Gallucci left high school after the 11th grade. He served in the United States Army and in the United States Army National Guard prior to his appointment to the Camden Fire Department on March 16, 1966. When appointed to the Fire Department, he reported his address as 1855 South 4th Street. The Gallucci family left South 4th Street in the early 1970s, around the same time that the Camden Fire Department lifted its residency requirements for firefighters. By 1993 Daniel Gallucci had moved to an apartment in Maple Shade, New Jersey. He retired on pension on August 1, 1994, having served the City of Camden for over 28 years. When his mother passed in 2003, she had been living in Sea Isle City, New Jersey. Daniel Galucci's father had died in July of 1982. Daniel Gallucci was still making his home in his apartment in Maple Shade when he died on February 9, 2016. Daniel Gallucci's uncle, Raymond Paradise, served for many years with the Camden Police Department, during which time he saw duty a member of the K-9 Unit and a homicide investigator. |
