Private First Class Anthony E. Flamini was the son of Francisco and Filomena Flamini, who had emigrated from Italy. The Flaminis had met and married in the USA. At the time of the 1930 census, the Flamini family lived at 613 South 3rd Street in Camden NJ. The elder Flamini was then working as a laborer at the Camden Coke plant. Born on June 14, 1925, he was the sixth of eight children: Jerry, Leon, Marie, Rudolph, George, Anthony, Helen, and Elvira. In 1930, two doors down, at 609 South 3rd Street, lived the D’Agostino family. Their oldest son, John J. D’Agostino, also died while serving with the United States Army during World War II.

Anthony Flamini grew up on South 3rd Street. He had attended Woodrow Wilson High School on Federal Street in Camden NJ, and worked for the William S. Scull Co. prior to being drafted into the United States Army.

In December of 1943 Anthony Flamini was training at Camp Croft SC. An infantry radioman, he had been overseas for five months when he was killed in action on July 9, 1944, while serving in Italy. His death was reported in the September 25, 1944 edition of the Camden Courier-Post. He was 19 at the time of his death. He was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Flamini, of the South 3rd Street address, and his brothers and sisters. His brother, Corporal Rudolph Flamini, was serving with the Army Air Force at the time of Anthony Flamini’s death.
