Biography
Private Alfred J. Mrowczynski was born on October 2, 1923. As a boy, he was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart at Broadway and Ferry Avenue, and attended the Sacred Heart Parish School at Broadway and Ferry Avenue in Camden. He graduated from the Camden County Vocational School in Pennsauken, NJ. His favorite hobbies were fishing and hunting. He worked as a welder at the New York Shipbuilding Corporation shipyard in Camden before being inducted into the United States Army in March of 1943.
After a brief period of basic training he was sent overseas in October of 1943, as a member of the 116th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. Arriving in France on June 6, 1944, Private Mrowczynski was killed on July 13, 1944 near Saint-Lô, France.
Alfred Mrowczynski was survived by his parents, John and Frances Mrowczynski, of 1371 Park Boulevard, Camden, NJ; his four brothers, Stanley, Henry, Edmund, and Walter; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Kuras, Mrs. Josephine Jankowski, and Mrs. Rita DiPilla. His death was reported in the September 22, 1944 edition of the Camden Courier-Post.

Funeral services for Pvt. Alfred J. Mrowczynski will be held at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow in a funeral home at 1458 Mt. Ephraim avenue. Burial will be in the veterans’ section of St. Joseph’s cemetery, Chews Landing.
Pvt. Mrowczynski, son of John and Frances Mrowczynski, 1371 Park boulevard, was killed in action at St. Lo, France, on July 13, 1944. He was buried in St. Laurient cemetery, France. He enlisted in the service in March, 1943, and was sent overseas in October, 1943. Before his enlistment, he was a welder at New York shipyard.
At the time of his death he was 20 and was a member of the 116th AAA Gun Battalion of the Coast Artillery.
Besides his parents, he is survived by four brothers, Stanley, Henry, Edmund and Walter, and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Kuras, Mrs. Josephine Jankowski and Mrs. Rita DiPilla. All reside in Camden.
