Aerial postcard of Camden, NJ — Probably my all-time favorite postcard. The optimism in Camden’s future jumps right out of the card!

Camden's First City Hall

Camden's First City Hall, where the Public Service Building now stands — Camden’s FIRST City Hall — “Where Public Service Building Now Stands.” This Civil War era photograph was republished as a postcard by the Munger & Long Department Store (southwest corner of Broadway & Federal Street) sometime between 1903 and 1926. The Public Service Building, which still stands, has housed the Camden Free Public Library since the 1980s.

Second City Hall

Camden's Second City Hall, mailed 1914 — Camden’s SECOND City Hall, built by E. Allen Ward in 1875. The center card was postmarked in 1907; the other two in the top row were mailed in 1914.
