I had stopped by Liberty Station when around 2:20 PM a call came for Rescue Company 1 to go to a car accident on Admiral Wilson Boulevard. We were on Newton Avenue between South 7th and South 8th Streets when we were diverted to a report of a fire at South 9th Street and Atlantic Avenue. We turned right onto Mt Ephraim Avenue and smelled smoke almost as soon as we crossed Mechanic Street, a good two blocks away from the fire. This fire went to 2 alarms with companies from Gloucester City, Collingswood, Pennsauken, and Cherry Hill assisting. It took about an hour to bring under control, and there were no injuries.

The photos and videos on this page are presented in the order in which they were taken. Aside from the first two images which were taken in the apparatus after leaving Liberty Station, they represent the first ten minutes on the fireground. This is the first of three pages, covering this fire.

Being there from beginning, I took A LOT of pictures and video… and my battery went dead before it was all over. Lesson learned… don't leave the spare battery at home!
