This page and the other pages in this series are the successors to the series of web-page about the Camden Fire Department that began with the page Camden Fire Department: The Fires of the Summer of 2011. On this and other pages in the series you will find pictures and information regarding different events and aspects of the fire service in Camden, New Jersey. This is the second of three pages covering the fire at BDF Industrial Fasteners, 1026-1030 South 10th Street, Camden NJ on April 24, 2012. I had stopped by Liberty Station when around 2:20 PM a call came for Rescue Company 1 to go to a car accident on Admiral Wilson Boulevard. We were on Newton Avenue between South 7th and South 8th Streets when we were diverted to a report of a fire at South 9th Street and Atlantic Avenue. We turned right onto Mt Ephraim Avenue and smelled smoke almost as soon as we crossed Mechanic Street, a good two blocks away from the fire. This fire went to 2 alarms with companies from Gloucester City, Collingswood, Pennsauken, and Cherry Hill assisting. It took about an hour to bring under control, and there were no injuries. The photos and videos on this page are presented in the order in which they were taken. They begin at 2:38 PM, eleven minutes from the time I took my first photo and go to 2:53 PM. As stated above, this is the second of three pages, covering this fire. The third page contains images from 2:54 forward. There are five video clips, each running about 24 seconds each. Two are on this page. The videos have been uploaded to YOUTUBE. They are all MOV files and you can also download them by right-clicking on the links provided and saving them. All photos are also downloadable, click on each to get a larger and higher resolution version, then right-click and save. . Being there from beginning, I took A LOT of pictures, and some video… and my battery went dead before it was all over. Lesson learned… don't leave the spare battery at home!
