LIEUTENANT EDGAR BURTON LLOYD was born April 10, 1897. Prior to joining the Marine Corps, he lived with his grandfather, Samuel C. Paris, in Haddon Township NJ, who had a hat manufacturing business at 3 North 5th Street in Philadelphia, as early as 1890. Edgar Burton Lloyd enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on April 12, 1917 in Philadelphia PA. He was sent to Lake Charles LA where he became a member of Reconnaissance Company, 1st Aviation Corps. Lieutenant Lloyd was killed in an aeroplane accident at Gerstner Field, Lake Charles, Louisiana on January 17, 1918. He was survived by his mother and step-father, Flora P. and George M. Millpaugh, of the Tracy Apartments, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Also surviving were his grandparents, Samuel C. and Mary Paris, of Buck Yard Road, Haddon Township, New Jersey, and an Uncle, Albert L. Paris, of the Haddon Township address. He was 21 at the time of his death. Edgar Burton Lloyd had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Haddonfield, which stood at 20 East Kings Highway. |
