To the Editor:
Sir:—Being superintendent of the South Jersey Branch of the Shut-in Society it is my pleasure as visitor to call on its members here in South Jersey.
I find there are many people who do not know about the “Shut-in Society, and I feel they might be interested if they did know and I would like to advise anyone who is a chronic invalid, crippled or blind that they may become a member.
The object of the society is to give cheer and comfort to shut-ins and when needed wheel chairs may be rented for a dollar a year. I would be glad to hear from any shut-in that is interested or give details to anyone that would like to join as an associate helping to spread cheer with letters, cards and etc.

My great grandparents came from Lithuania, moved from New York to Philadelphia, and later moved to Tuckahoe road in Fairview. My great grandparents and eventually 4 of their 6 children all lived on that street. I was born in 1959 and also lived on Tuckahoe road, 2 doors away from my Grandmother. My grandfather was in World War I and my father and his two brothers served in World War II.
I loved growing up and living in Fairview.

Harry H. Harris, 64, died Friday in his home at 3015 Tuckahoe rd. He was a locomotive engineer for the Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines. He was a member of Henry S. Haines Lodge 253, FAM; Woodbury Chapter 61, RAM; Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers, Local 655, and the Railroad YMCA.
Surviving are his wife, Bernadean; two brothers, George N., of Port Elizabeth, and James L., of Jacksonville, Fla.; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Orr, of Millville, Mrs. Mildred Greer, of Woodbury, and Mrs. Ellen Gross, of Vineland.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Murray Funeral Home, 408 Cooper st., where friends may call tonight. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Beverly.

Raymond Carson, retired Camden police detective, died suddenly Thursday night while strumming the guitar at a family Thanksgiving party.
Carson, who was 57 years old, was stricken at his home, 3052 Tuckahoe rd. He retired in April, 1958, after 30 years on the police force during which he achieved distinction as a fingerprint expert in the Bureau of Identification.
In addition to his wife, Carson is survived by a son, Harry, and four brothers.
