Remington Street

aka Remington Avenue, East Camden

Introduction

Remington Street is in East Camden. It runs uninterrupted from 626 North 32nd Street to 628 North 34th Street. It is sometimes referred to as Remington Avenue, which is located not far away in Pennsauken, NJ.

The street does not appear on a map of Camden that was published in 1914. By 1924 two houses had been built on Remington Street, numbered 3271 and 3273, which appear in the 1924 and 1927 City Directories. By 1929 these two homes had been renumbered and became 3301 and 3303 Remington Street.

When the 1929 Camden City Directory was compiled there were ten homes occupied on Remington Street. A few brick-faced homes were built after 1947. In the aftermath of the wars in Southeast Asia, several families of Vietnamese and Cambodian descent moved to Remington Street.

William H. Kerby Services Slated, Camden Courier-Post, January 22, 1968

William H. Kerby, 64, who operated the Kerby Bicycle Shop at 322–24 Federal Street with his brother George F. until two years ago, died yesterday in Cooper Hospital.

He lived at 3312 Remington Street.

Surviving are his wife, Mary H.; a daughter, Mrs. Helen M. Watson of Pennsauken, a brother and three grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home, 3203 Federal Street, where friends may call tomorrow night. Burial will be in Bethel Memorial Park, Pennsauken.
