Introduction
Moore Street was a small street that ran eastwardly from North 9th Street towards the Cooper River south of York Street. The street appears in Camden City Directories as early as 1867. Five two-story twin homes were built on the north side of Moore Street prior to 1906. The south side of Moore Street was entirely taken up by the Highland Worsted Mill.
In the 1960’s the houses were all leveled. You could see a small cobblestone street and the foundations of small houses. One more thing about Moore Street. Most streets in North Camden were level, not Moore Street. It dramatically sloped toward the Cooper River. If a baby carriage got away from you there would have been a tragedy.

Four Men Arrested in Shooting Threat

Four men were arrested last night as the result of an alleged threat to shoot one of them.
Michael Di Orio, 30, of 245 Pine street, was held in $1000 bail on a charge of threatening to kill George Hettrick, 23, of 905 Moore street, who was held in $500 bail as a material witness to the case. Others held as witnesses are Ralph Di Servio, 21, of 307 Pine street, and James Liccketto, 24, of 640 South Third street.
Hettrick, according to Sergt. Gustav Koerner, said Di Orio threatened to “give him the works” while he was attending a party Monday night. The others were with the accused, Hettrick said. Detectives Walter Smith, John Trout and Marshall Thompson nabbed the trio at a restaurant and said Hettrick identified them at police headquarters.
