Introduction
William Woldman was born in Russia around 1877. He married at the age of 27, and came to America in 1906. His wife joined him the following year. The Woldmans lived in Pennsylvania, where daughter Anna was born, then moved to New Jersey where Lena was born a year later. A son, Isadore, was born on January 11, 1914. The family was living in Pennsauken NJ at the time of the 1920 Census. William Woldman was then working as a cutter in a dress factory. The family came to Camden around 1923. William Woldman worked in a laundry, and eventually opened up his own small laundry business. He was killed when his clothes caught fire in his basement on January 25, 1933.

Funeral services for William Woldman, of 459 Atlantic avenue, were held yesterday at his home. Burial was in New Camden Cemetery.
Mr. Woldman, who conducted a small laundry, died Monday night of burns suffered a week ago when his clothing ignited accidentally while he was alone in the basement of his home.
Surviving are his widow, Ethel; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Monvitz, a teacher at Mulford School, and Lena, 22, and a son, Isador Woldman, 19. Mr. Woldman had been a resident of Camden for ten years. He formerly conducted a women’s dress goods factory in Pennsauken.
