Three South Jersey men have been reported missing in action and an artillery captain seriously wounded in casualty lists released today by the War and Navy Departments.
Two of the men were friends and have been missing in action since Nov. 26, the War Department said. They are Sgts. William Eastlack of Carneys Point, and Millard Buckingham, 21, of Deepwater. They were in the same Signal Corps battalion and went overseas in October.
Eastlack is the son of Mrs. Minnie Eastlack, of 141 I street, Carneys Point, and his comrade is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Buckingham, of Grant street, Deepwater. Buckingham was graduated at Pennsgrove High School in 1942. Eastlack was at a CCC camp before entering service. Christmas cards had been received by Mrs. Eastlack from her son on Dec. 13. In a letter Buckingham wrote his “mail was not coming through yet.” Buckingham’s brother, Jack, 24, is in the Army, and another brother, Harry, 18, is with the Navy. His sister’s husband, W. L. Coffman, is a master sergeant overseas.
