Corporal William J. Connelly, Jr. was born on October 12, 1929, in Audubon, NJ. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in January of 1951. After boot camp at Parris Island, North Carolina, he was attached to the Motor Transport Company at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Corporal Connelly died November 15, 1952, in an automobile accident in Delaware while on his way to Audubon.

I was engaged to Cpl. Connelly when he died and we were to be married on January 3, 1953.
