Introduction

Private William H. Sharp was born in 1924 to William F. and Elizabeth Sharp. He was the youngest of seven children. In 1930 the Sharp family lived in Pine Hill NJ, where the families of uncles Benjamin and Anthony Sharp occupied three adjacent homes along Berlin Road. The family moved to Stratford NJ after April of 1930, and moved to Park Avenue in neighboring Laurel Springs NJ in October of 1943.

William Sharp was inducted into the United States Army. He died on January 13, 1944 from chest wounds received while serving at Fort Jackson SC. His body was returned to New Jersey, and his funeral was held at the funeral home located at 402 White Horse Pike in Haddon Heights NJ. His death was reported in the January 17, 1944 evening edition of the Camden Courier-Post.

William Sharp was survived by his parents, brother Albert of Camden NJ, brother Herbert of Laurel Springs, and sisters Mrs. Agnes Roscoe, Mrs. Josephine Porcelli, Miss Grace Sharp, and Miss Loretta Sharp.
