Private William F. Farrell was born in Camden NJ on August 2, 1895. When the Census was taken in 1910, he was living at 926 North 5th Street in North Camden with his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Hallahan, his sister, Mary Farrell, and uncles John and Edward Hallahan. He had already left school, and was working as an errand boy in a grocery store. When he registered for the draft on June 5, 1917 he was living at 909 North Front Street and working as a helper on an ice wagon owned by Charles Oler of 326 Vine Street.

Private Farrell was drafted on April 26, 1918, and sent to Camp Dix. After six weeks training he was sent to Camp Lee VA, and two weeks later sailed for France. He was killed in action at Montfaucon, France during the Argonne Forest battle on September 29, 1918. Private Farrell was survived by his sister, Mary Farrell, of 940 North 5th Street in Camden NJ.

In 1935 Private Farrell was brought home and buried at Calvary Cemetery in what was then Delaware Township (present-day Cherry Hill), New Jersey.
