Warren Belknap Corwin was the first child of Raymond W. and Ruth Anetta Belknap Corwin. He was born in 1922 in Chester Hills, Pennsylvania. His younger brother, Sergeant Nuel Dinsmore Corwin, was born in Chester Hills, Pennsylvania on January 27, 1924, and there was a sister, Kathryn, born in 1928. His father was an engineer in the illumination industry. In 1930 the family was living at 289 Merion Avenue in Haddonfield, New Jersey.

Warren Corwin served during World War II in the United States Army Air Forces. He was lost in a plane crash in November 1944. His brother Nuel was also killed in action while serving in the Army Air Forces.
