Introduction

Thomas Burnett was born in Burlington NJ around 1876. At the age of 18 he engaged in a brief vaudeville career. He later took to the sea, and worked on a coastal schooner, eventually rising to captain. He moved to Camden NJ, and operated a store at Front and Erie Streets. By 1947 he was living at 621 North 9th Street in North Camden, and still employed, this time as a watchman.
Thomas J. Burnett was a collector, and assembled an extensive collection of items relating to Abraham Lincoln, and to the American stage.
