Second Lieutenant Stanley L. Rosen was the son of Joseph D. and Sadie Rosen. Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1919, he was a graduate of Collingswood High School, Class of 1938. After high school, he attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and worked for the Radio Corporation of America at their factory in Camden, NJ.
Having qualified for the Air Corps, Stanley Rosen enlisted in the United States Army at Trenton, NJ on January 23, 1942. He was trained as a bombardier and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in August of 1942 at the Army Air Field in Midland, TX, as reported in the September 1, 1942 edition of the Camden Courier-Post. By this time his parents had moved to 139 North 32nd Street in Camden, NJ.
After the above-mentioned news article was printed, Stanley L. Rosen was killed on December 15, 1942, when the B-24 he was in as bombardier (aircraft #41-22873) crashed while attempting to take off from Lambert Field, St. Louis, MO. Seven of the nine men aboard were killed. His name appears on the World War II War Memorial at Knight’s Park in Collingswood, NJ.
